Welcome to the internet home of Net 135 of FidoNet. The largest Amateur FTN network that was started back in the in the dial-up BBS days by Tom Jennings. It started as a strictly as a proprietary network, available only to those that ran Fido bbs software. As it grew more popular, the FTN (Fido Technology) was released to allow more boards to be able to join.

Today FidoNet hosts over 400 message bases, numerous InterBBS Leagues and has around 5,000 nodes on the network world-wide. FidoNet is comprised of 6 zones, then under each zone are numerous regions and under each region are numerous nets like this one. Net 135 or The Sunshine Net as it is also known as is in Region 18 of Zone 1.

If you are a sysop of a bbs and wish to join, just click on the join FidoNet link to the left and fill out the application and your application will be forwarded to the appropriate RC (Region Coordinator). Florida is net 135's domain. If you live in Florida and wish to join net 135, the network coordinator will contact you shortly using the e-mail address you provided and assign you a node number.

Just exactly what is a network you may be asking yourself, well a network is a group of people each running compatible software who have connected thier computers together to exchange netmail and echomail and exchange files, for example InterBBS game packets. Netmail is basically the same as your standard internet e-mail, except it's only exchanged with people in that particular network. Echomail is very similar to the newsgroups found on the internet, echomail is not private however, anyone reading that particular echo will be able to see what has been posted for as far back as the sysop of that particular BBS allows.

Some games played on the BBSes have a feature known as InterBBS play, where the BBSes on a particular network link thier games together allowing for competition between people and or BBSes far away from each other. Examples of the InterBBS games these leagues offer is LORDnet, BRE, FE, TAL and many more. Log on to a FidoNet BBS to see what other games there are offered. However not all FidoNet BBSes carry the games or not all carry all the games.
